“I don’t want to live in a world where President Obama is worried about his Rotten Tomatoes score”
Chris Rock isn’t too down with the thought of Barack and Michelle Obama becoming a big part of Netflix.
“One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience,” the former president said at the time.
“That’s why Michelle and I are so excited to partner with Netflix – we hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world.”
But while the deal prompted huge excitement about what an Obama-shaped Netflix might look like, it seems like comic icon Chris isn’t perhaps so keen.
“I don’t want to live in a world where President Obama is worried about his Rotten Tomatoes score,” Rock told the Hollywood Reporter.
“I want him above that at all times.”
He added: “Make your money, but I don’t want [him] to be involved with that.”
Although Rock wasn’t being entirely serious, he offered a few words of advice.
“Send them over to Donald Glover”, he advised.
“That’s what I’d do.”
The specifics of The Obama Netflix deal are yet to be revealed.
